UPDATES from the SAVE Alliance networking site:
General Meeting on November 10th..... Highlights:
1. Ken and Mike updated the group on past efforts of the SAVE organization and St. Paul's Green Team.
2. Discussion on the possibility of increasing the community's access to recycling ALL plastics (not just 1 and 2). We will be looking into the possibility of bringing in a company who provides bins for plastics 3-7.
3. Eco-Life: We are going to begin a contest to see which team of households can reduce their energy consumption the most. We discussed the questionaire to be used as well as how to accurately measure the energy reductions. ALL ALLIANCE MEMBERS WILL BE PROVIDED INFORMATION OF HOW TO PARTICIPATE. We are also asking members to invite other community members to join their team!
The contest begins on January 1 and runs for exactly 6 months, ending June 30th. More info to come!
4. BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: The SAVE Alliance wil begin a drive to collect box tops in order to raise money for scholarships for children who can not afford our Summer Nature Camps. Each box top is worth 10 cents so it can add up fast!!!! Please look for the labels on top of your General Mills and other products!
